The other side of the door.

I HAVE TO TELL YOU A SECRET

There are things that can only be told up close.

LET’S START WITH THE MATERIAL AND TECHNIQUE

Since this is a sliding door, I painted both sides.

The material is wood, but given its size, a lighter internal structure was designed.

Once it was built, I applied several layers of a very painterly white base.

On this surface, I worked with oil pastels to shape the subject.

Finally, a transparent matte varnish completes and protects the artwork.

WHERE DID THE INSPIRATION COME FROM?

Last month, I showed you the quieter side of this sliding door.

This time, I’m taking you to the other side.

While one side invited reflection, the other opens onto a more convivial space, made of listening, confidences and presence.

Here too, the movement of the figure takes shape through music, but with a different energy.

Closer, more human.

I was fascinated by the idea that a door could not only separate two spaces, but completely change their atmosphere.

And it is precisely in this transition that this work found its balance.

Once upon a time, there was a door that kept words never spoken.

On one side, silence.

On the other, confidences, laughter, stories told in hushed voices.

Those who crossed it found themselves in a different atmosphere without even realizing it.

Because some secrets need the right place to be told.
